Tara's Ribbon trimmed jeans

I have a great friend who sent this to me and asked if I would feature her on my blog and after looking at her project I told her " OF COURSE!" I think this is a really cute and easy solution to a problem that I am sure many of you have out there!  Thanks, Tara Gibson for sharing your project!

Ribbon-trimmed jeans
My little girl has a tendency to outgrow her pants in the length before she is ready to move to the next size in the waist.  A friend who has the same problem showed me what she did to lengthen her daughter’s pants.

My friend did hers using a hot glue gun. I happened to have some peel n stick fabric tape on hand so that is what I used. It’s like double sided tape for fabric.

I did this in under 2 hours. Most of your time is spent doing the prep work: cutting the ribbon, cutting the fabric tape, applying the tape. Once you have your ribbons cut, apply squares of tape to the ends of the ribbons on the wrong side of the ribbon and leave the backing on. Lay out the ribbons in the order you want to place them.  Peel off the backing on one end of the ribbon and press the ribbon onto the outside of the pants.

Next, peel off the backing from the other end and press it to the inside of the pant leg.
Do this all the way around the pant leg until it looks like this:

Next, apply a band of ribbon all the way around to cover up the exposed edges. I applied the adhesive to the middle section of the band and pressed it to the front and then flipped the pants over to apply adhesive to the remaining pieces and overlapped them on the back.
Please give me some feed back on what you think about this project and if you have any ideas that you would like featured on this blog send them to be directly and I will see what we can do.

t shirt scarf- I saw this on pinterest and I had to make one of my own!
I wasn't sure that it would really work but think that it turned out pretty good!  What do you think?

Modeling the new outfit

Emily wanted to try her new outfit on for daddy so I grabbed the camera!
The skirt is longer on her than most of her others but I like it this length!

Valentine outfit finished

After my last post I went to the quilt shop and picked out some fabric that I thought looked like valentines day but that Emily could wear for the spring/summer too.
Here is what I came up with.

Then I got this shirt at Target on clearance for under $3.00
Once I was done with the skirt I thought that the shirt was a little too plain and added these hearts to dress it up and make an outfit.

Here is the outfit.  I will post pictures of Emily modeling it tomorrow! I can't wait to see her in it!

Holiday outfits???

I have never really been one for holiday outfits.  I have always felt that it was a waste of money to only wear an outfit once a year.  THEN i had a little girl who LOVES to dress up!  Now I find myself looking for things that I can make for her to wear for almost any holiday.  Speaking of which I just bought fabric to make Emily a skirt for Valentines day....  What do you guys think?

 Holiday outfits or no.......

New Year of creativity- Help me out, PLEASE!!!!

So, I was reminded that I have not been on here in about three months!!!  Wow, time goes by SO fast!!!  I was sitting for a little girl and there was just NO time left with three toddlers running around to sit down and write to you all.  I am no longer doing the sitting gig and I am hoping that I will be able to do more on my blog this year.  Write me and tell me what types of things you would like to see on my site.  There are so many things to talk about that it makes it hard to pick just one.  If you have been following my blog then you know that I LOVE to sew!  It is my favorite was to spend my free time!  I am up for  posting tutorials on how to do projects, show more of the pieces that I create or anything else you might think of.  Here is to a New Year of creativity!  Happy New year everyone!
